/dev/sdx is apparently in use by the system.

Feb 26, 2012 - 1 minute read - Comments - raiddisk

Greetings programs, in today’s post i will present a little issue i had with an old box i needed to format and reuse: root@nibelheim:~# mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdxy mke2fs 1.41..12 (17-May-2010) /dev/sdxy is apparently in use by the system; will not make a filesystem here! this one might get triggered by a number of factors: 1. the drive could be mounted on the current system. 2. there are raid array data left marking the drive or partition as “in use”.

:set expandtab Bazekiel 25:17 - The path of the righteous coder is beset on all sides by the stupidity of management and the tyranny of evil code. Blessed is he who, in the name of efficiency and good builds, migrates his work through the valley of changesets. For he is truly his project’s dev’er and the tester of new modules. And I will strike down upon thee with git blame and revert those who attempt to check in tabs to my projects.

Software Freedom Day 2011

Two days ago in Larissa’s Central square my LinuxTeam colleagues and I held this year’s SFD. We had a booth there with lots of FOSS stuff, Distro CDs (Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Opensuse), a CD with FOSS for windows, stickers and the like. Being in a high traffic spot we had lots of people passing by, asking questions. It was a huge success! Many people had already known about us, to our surprise near the end of the event (~11:00-13:00) we got overwhelmed talking to all those who gathered around the booth.
